Welcome to new subscribers. I hope you enjoy the content of this newsletter as much as I enjoy publishing it. I do have help, Our kittens create extra work for the spell check, when they decide to chase something on the screen. My two sons aged 20 and 22 told me to give up the challenge of putting out a newsletter,
I am so glad I did not listen to them and I take this opportunity to thank the people who answered my many questions. and provide support an understanding.

2 Article The Human Body
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Did you know that when you were born, your skeleton had around 350 bones, but now as an adult you only have 205 bones.. This is because, as you grow, some
of the bones join together to form one bone.
Here is the breakdown.
Skull and upper jaw 21 bones
· 3 tiny bones in each ear
· Lower jaw (mandible)
· Front neck bone (hyoid)
· Backbone or spine (26 separate bones or vertebrae)
· Ribs (12 pairs - same number for men and women)
· Breastbone
· Each upper limb has 32 bones: 2 in shoulder,
3 in arm, 8 in wrist, 19 in hand and fingers.
Each lower limb has 31 bones:
1 in hip (one side of pelvis),
4 in leg, 7 in ankle, 19 in foot and toes.
Total = 206 bones
Your skeleton protect the vital organs, your brain, heart and lungs. It gives you your shape. Without your skeleton, you would just be a blob on the floor. It allows you to move. Muscles are attached to your bones, when the muscles move, they
move the bones and off we go.
Miles of Blood vessels
Did you know that you have 4 -5 litres of blood. If all the blood vessels in your body were laid end to end, they would reach about 60,000 miles. Your blood is pumped around the body by the heart. By the time you turn 70, your heart will have beat some  two-and-a-half billion times (figuring on an average  of 70 beats per minute.) the human heart beats about 40 million times a year Thank goodness.
Are you average?  If you admit to being average then you will drink about 16, 000 gallons of water in your lifetime  On your average head your scalp has 100,000 hairs
Even though you are average your fingerprints and  tongue print are unique.
Walking Chemical factory   Back to being average, your body contains enough: iron to make a 3 inch nail, sulfur to kill all fleas on an average dog, carbon to make 900 pencils, potassium to fire a toy cannon, fat to make 7 bars of soap, phosphorous to make 2,200 match heads, and  water to fill a ten-gallon tank. Who does the math's  and when are they going to get a real job.
The human brain is about 85% water. It is the same for you, me and Einstein.
Loosiong skin.
Humans shed about 600,000 particles of skin every hour about 1.5 pounds a year. By the time you are 70 years of age, you will have lost 105 pounds  Where does it all go.
To balance things out, you will re- grow outer skin cells about every 27 days - almost 1,000 new skins in your life time. This is how you lose your suntan.
Each square inch of human skin consists of twenty feet of blood vessels
Here is a fact you might not want to know: Every square inch of the human body has an average of 32 million bacteria on it. Every time you lick a stamp, you're consuming 1/10 of a calorie. Is that why the stamp franking machine was invented. Women burn fat more slowly than men, by a rate of about 50 calories a day. Women's hearts beat faster than men's Now why is that . I dont think Ill get into that.
Three-hundred-million cells die in the human body every minute. Each cell in your body has an estimated 6 to 8 feet of DNA? Couldn't they be more accurate?
You might be sleeping, but your body is working at a furious rate. You will die of lack of sleep sooner than from starvation.Death will occur about 10 days without sleep, while starvation takes a few weeks.
Thank goodness it all works unconsciously. Imagine having to think about doing all this and getting through a normal day.
7 Thoughts: Yours and Mine
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When we are aware of what is around us, we will take more care of our planet and the wonders of life that are all around us. Start at home, take good care of each other, your family and friends.
Find the time to volunteer once a week. Commit a Random Act of Kindness.

In future issues I will explore the CN tower, tube worms, waterbears and bats. Anybody out there know what a water bear is?
